What is Technocon?

Technocon 2010 was a full 2-day experience, designed to achieve the following business objectives across the two days:

  1. Instill the conference themes.
  2. Build and strengthen working relationships between University of Alberta and City of Edmonton IT staff.
  3. Provide technical training.

Technocon 2010 was just the beginning of a tremendous opportunity to connect, learn and share the exciting possibilities ahead!

 

Date and Location

Technocon 2010 began with registration at 7:00 AM on Wednesday May 5, 2010 and concluded with an awards ceremony ending at 4:30 PM on Thursday May 6, 2010.

The conference was held at the School of Business on the University of Alberta's main campus.  Keynote sessions were in the Tory Turtle Lecture Theatre Complex adjacent to the School of Business. 

 

Conference Themes

The Technocon 2010 themes were to:

  1. Be transformed and transformative;

  2. Embrace open data and open government; and

  3. Become world class IT municipal and academic leaders.

 

Free Registration

Technocon 2010 was free for all City of Edmonton and University of Alberta Information Technology Staff.

 

Free Wireless

Access to the UofA's WiFi (UWS) was provided to conference participants.  Instructions for connecting to UWS are available here http://helpdesk.ualberta.ca/UWS/uws/ or by connecting to the "HowToConnectToWireless" network while on campus and trying to access any website.

The username and password were provided at the conference.
